Nestled and carved by the Noana stream, the valley of the same name is a wild and unique feature of the area. Long, narrow, and confined by sheer rock walls, it resembles a canyon. The stream shapes and smooths the large boulders carried downstream by retreating glaciers, forming spectacular pools. Unlike the wide valleys of Primiero and Vanoi, there is no space for meadows and pastures here. For 9 km, up to Rifugio Fonteghi—famous for its grilled meat—we enter a wild world at 1,100 meters above sea level. Then, magically, the valley opens up and softens with expansive green areas, including Nève and Val Piana. A comfortable dirt road leads to Alpe Vederna, and a high-altitude trail continues to Rifugio Boz (1,718 m), located in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. In winter, Val Noana becomes an untouched paradise for ski mountaineering and snowshoe excursions.
